The Wang Laboratory at Zhejiang University invites applications for highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join our interdisciplinary research program at the intersection of stem cell biology, computational biology, and AI-powered drug discovery.
Our research focuses on two complementary areas:
1. Understanding stem cell heterogeneity in inflammation-to-cancer transition using single-cell and spatial multi-omics approaches.
2. Developing AI-driven drug discovery platforms that integrate molecular dynamics simulations, high-content screening, and deep learning.
We are currently building agentic AI systems for precision drug design, aiming to move beyond traditional screening toward autonomous hypothesis generation and experimental planning.
Research Environment
You will join a collaborative and well-funded lab that bridges dry-lab (computational) and wet-lab (experimental) research. Key resources include:
• Large-scale single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets
• High-content screening platforms for stem cell-based drug discovery
• Computational infrastructure for AI model development (deep learning, molecular dynamics)
• Strong connections with clinical departments (Stomatology Hospital, Zhejiang University)
This position offers significant intellectual freedom and the opportunity to shape new directions in AI-powered precision medicine.
Responsibilities
Computational/Bioinformatics Track:
• Lead independent research projects in single-cell/spatial transcriptomics or AI-driven drug screening
• Develop and apply machine learning / deep learning models (CNN, GNN, etc.) for:
o Drug toxicity and efficacy prediction from high-content imaging data
o Protein–small molecule interaction modeling
o Multi-omics data integration and gene regulatory network inference
• Collaborate with experimental scientists to validate computational predictions
Experimental/Pharmacology Track:
• Perform stem cell culture, high-content screening, and molecular biology experiments (Western blot, RT-PCR, immunofluorescence, etc.)
• Conduct animal studies to validate drug candidates in disease models (e.g., inflammation-associated cancer, pulmonary fibrosis)
• Work closely with computational team to refine AI models through experimental feedback

General Requirements:
• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or a related field
• Strong publication record (at least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
For Computational Track:
• Proficiency in Python/R and experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow)
• Familiarity with cheminformatics libraries (RDKit, DeepChem) is a plus
• Experience with single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, or molecular dynamics simulations is highly desirable
For Experimental Track:
• Expertise in high-content imaging
• Prior experience with drug screening or stem cell biology is preferred
