Description

The Yale Center for Brain and Mind Health (CBMH) is hiring new faculty at any rank with a research focus on artificial intelligence in brain and mind health.

CBMH seeks to apply clinical and translational neuroscience to directly improve the quality of life of individuals with conditions affecting the mind and brain. We are seeking candidates who develop and/or apply AI methodologies within the context of clinically relevant neuroscience problems. Candidates may integrate, advance or develop approaches such as natural language processing, machine learning, computer vision, foundation models, large language models, and other methods. Applicants may work in one clinical area, across multiple areas, or in the development of novel methodologies that can be broadly applied through collaboration. They should be motivated toward generating impactful work that can improve human health.

Successful candidates will be embedded in the CBMH community. CBMH is an interdepartmental Center at the Yale School of Medicine that fosters connection with clinical and basic science departments across the University to galvanize innovative work in the applied neurosciences. The unique design of the CBMH leadership, comprising five individuals from different departments with diverse backgrounds and interests, embodies a core CBMH principle: creating a scientific community where the sum is greater than the parts. CBMH embodies the belief that addressing the challenges presented by conditions affecting the brain and mind requires the power that diverse perspectives bring to research. We foster an environment where individuals of any race, gender, identity, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation, and or otherbackground feel supported and empowered to push forward the frontiers of clinically relevant neuroscience research.

Yale is home to a vibrant neuroscience community, which includes leading Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, and the Child Study Center, as well as basic science departments such as Neuroscience, Psychology, and Statistics and Data Science. CBMH also integrates nationally recognized leadership in AI from the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science as well as the AI core of the Wu-Tsai Institute for the study of human cognition. Within this rich environment, CBMH faculty are expected to develop a productive and innovative research program, to be outstanding scholars with a track record of collaborative, multidisciplinary research and scholarly productivity, to demonstrate a commitment to health-related outcomes, and to evidence excellence in teaching and mentorship. Faculty will be appointed by CBMH with a primary faculty appointment in a clinical or basic science department best aligned with their specific area of work. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
