The University of Chicago's Department of Family Medicine/Institute for Population and Precision Health in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Assistant Professor whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The appointee will primarily conduct research applying advanced machine learning/AI (including techniques like deep learning) to analyze complex biological and clinical data (e.g., single-cell multi-omics, microbiome, imaging, transcriptomics, EHR) within the fields of precision health, immunology, metabolism, genetics and population health.
The appointee will be expected to develop an independent, externally-funded research program that leverages their computational and biological systems expertise to complement existing research at UChicago. Responsibilities will also include supervising graduate students and/or postdoctoral researchers. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000 per year
Prior to the start of employment, applicants must have: 1) a doctoral degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer/Data Science, Genomics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related discipline; and 2) completed postdoctoral training.
We especially welcome applicants with experience analyzing large-scale cohort or multi-modal clinical/biological datasets and familiarity with study designs, project/data management, and implementing analytical protocols. Publication record and ability to obtain extramural grants will be considered.
