MBC is part of the national Biocenter Finland research infrastructure and the European-wide ELIXIR infrastructure. We conduct internationally high-level research in the fields of bioinformatics and computational medicine. We develop and apply computational data analysis tools as well as statistical and machine learning methods for interpreting large molecular and clinical datasets in medical research, in close collaboration with leading medical research groups and biobanks. As a core facility of Turku Bioscience Centre, we also support high-quality research by providing bioinformatics support to academic research units and healthcare organizations, among others, and scientific IT support to researchers.
The MBC core facility offers support for analyzing data generated by modern biotechnologies. We are looking for an expert in data analytics and bioinformatics for a permanent position to join our team to manage and coordinate the core facility's basic operations as part of the national Biocenter Finland bioinformatics infrastructure. Key tasks include coordination and communication with collaborators and networks, providing expert support, conducting data analyses, and developing support operations in collaboration with staff and stakeholders. Additionally, the position involves preparation of funding applications, reporting, participating in the organization of training events, and expanding and promoting core facility visibility.
Application deadline is 30 April 2025 16:00 (Europe/Helsinki).
Applicants are required to have a broad understanding and experience with bioinformatics tools and the analysis of various omics data. Additionally, strong programming skills (e.g., R, Python), familiarity with bioinformatics libraries (e.g. Bioconductor), and the ability to work with version control tools (e.g., Git) are essential, as well as familiarity with best practices for data management and storing high-throughput data. The position requires initiative in problem-solving, self-direction, and excellent collaboration and communication skills. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is necessary. The applicant must hold an academic degree in a relevant field.
We consider as a plus
