Dr. Xiao Fan’s laboratory (xiaofan-lab.github.io/) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida has a fully-funded postdoctoral associate position. Fan Lab aims to understand the genetic causes of rare human diseases using case-control association studies and improving the interpretation of genetic variations using machine learning methods. Research projects will involve study design, data acquisition, method development, data analysis, and software/database maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD in computer science/engineering, computational biology, or related quantitative subject.
• A strong background in programming (e.g., python and bash)
• Demonstrated experience with machine and deep learning modeling
• Interest in learning biological/genetic concepts
• Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with high-performance computing
• Experience with large language modeling
• Experience with bioinformatics projects
• Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to mentor junior team members
