Description

Bioinformatics Core in the Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville has an opening for a Bioinformatics Specialist III position in bioinformatics and computational biology. The research project will be focused on cancer studies using high-throughput sequencing (single-cell RNA-seq, RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, etc.) and related genomic technologies, including their applications in biology. The candidate will also work on developing novel computational and statistical methods for the analysis of massive genome and transcriptome data. Highly motivated candidates with prior single-cell sequencing data analysis experience are encouraged to apply. The Bioinformatician will also work with a team of researchers and clinicians to translate research findings into clinical practice. Education: Master's (Required)

Experience:
Bioinformatics: 3 years (Required)
single-cell sequencing data analysis: 1 year (Required)
Python, R, or Perl programming: 1 year (Preferred)
Linux and cluster computing: 1 year (Preferred)

Work Location: In person


Qualifications

The position will require bioinformatics experience, especially in the area of single-cell sequencing data analysis. The applicant should have a Master's degree in one of the following areas: Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other disciplines with a strong quantitative background. Knowledge in biology or genetics is desired but not required. The candidate should be familiar with program languages R, Perl, or Python.
