Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated bioinformatician to co-direct our bioinformatics training program. This position will work closely with the Interim Training Director and training team to develop strategy for the curriculum and identify gaps in bioinformatics educational offerings across the Harvard community.

• Oversee the overall execution of the training program
• Develop and deliver basic and advanced teaching materials
• Liaise with the broader bioinformatics training community
• Foster relationships with our partner institutes
• Assess and report on the impact of the training program
• Approximately 20% effort will focus on data analysis and mentoring junior bioinformatics staff


Qualifications

• PhD in Bioinformatics, CompBio, or related field, with molecular biology knowledge
• Teaching experience, ideally in developing curricula for workshops with a hands-on programming component
• Experience coordinating and running training sessions
• Strong bioinformatics analysis, programming, and data management skills and experience using HPC or cloud computing
• Experience in scientific leadership, strategic direction, and mentoring within a collaborative and goal-oriented setting
• Excellent communication and time management abilities
• Familiarity with tools for reproducible research
• A passion for education and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment
