The Life Science IT (LSIT) at the School of Life Sciences of the Technical University of Munich at the Freising-Weihenstephan campus would like to expand and is looking for a dedicated and team-oriented IT System Administrator for Science-IT (m/f/d) in full-time as soon as possible.
LSIT currently provides approximately 4,500 students and 1,500 employees at the Freising site with IT services ranging from consulting and local support to operating individual server systems.
We would like to consolidate and expand IT support for the diverse research areas of our School. In addition to operating existing systems, you will work with research institutions to plan customized server and storage environments, taking them from purchase all the way to decommission. In all project phases, you can contribute your experience and exchange ideas with our team. Good solutions can only be created together.
Your area of responsibility:
Designing, building and supporting systems for scientific applications
Setup and administration of storage environments
Administration of the virtualization environment under OpenNebula/KVM
Administration of the monitoring system Nagios
Administration and installation of server systems (Linux, Windows)
Documentation of the IT infrastructure
Planning and implementation of migration projects
On-site service for campus employees
You will also be working with state-of-the-art software in the academic area. This includes scientific software environments, high-performance computing systems, and workflow management systems.
Employment is with appropriate remuneration according to the collective agreement for the public service of the Länder (TV-L). The position is suitable for severely disabled persons. You have completed training as an IT specialist for system integration, a relevant degree (Bachelor/Master) or comparable training. You are familiar with authentication systems (ADS/LDAP) and several of the above-mentioned systems and are confident and flexible in dealing with Linux systems. Also, experience in setting up scientific software environments is welcome. Relevant work experience is desirable but not a requirement.
As you will be in contact with many international scientists* at the site, you will be fluent in written and spoken German and English.
