Description

The Department of Oncology at the Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine and the Division of Population Sciences of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) (an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center) invites applications for a Research Assistant (Biostatistician) Position.

The successful candidate is expected to serve as a staff member of the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core (BBC) at KCI (www.karmanos.org/karmanos/biostatistics-and-bioinformatics-core). Key duties and responsibilities include performing statistical analysis and preparing reports based on plans devised by faculty members; assisting in preparing grant applications, manuscripts and abstracts, as well as proofreading accepted manuscripts prior to publication; staying up-to-date with statistical and programming methodologies relevant to cancer research; implementing assignments with excellence and working collaboratively with staff and faculty; compiling information from clinical studies and reporting to ClinicalTrials.gov; and assisting educational activities relevant to cancer research in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics for fellows, residents, and graduate students.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the candidate include an MS degree in biostatistics, statistics, or closely related discipline prior to start date; at least 3 years of work experience in R programming, taking into account any work experience gained during the completion of an MS/PhD degree; and statistical work experience in collaborative medical research highly desirable. The position is a full-time staff position through the Department of Oncology of Wayne State University School of Medicine.
