Description

The Biocomputing group at the University of Bologna hires a fixed-term technician, funded by project devoted to the enhancement of the Italian node of the ELIXIR ESFRI infrastructure.
The workplace is Bologna (Italy) and the monthly salary will be around 1800 EUR

Services based on machine and deep learning methodologies for the analysis of biological sequences and structures
18 months – Start date: September-November 2023

Responsibilities include:
• Software management of the computational infrastructure, including CPU and GPU-based hardware
• Development of tools based on machine and deep learning methodologies for sequence and structure analysis
• Software engineering of services open to the scientific community
• Maintenance of databases useful for the project


Qualifications

• Advanced Python programming skills
• In-depth knowledge of libraries for developing machine and deep learning-based applications, including PyTorch, Keras/TensorFlow, and SciKit-Learn
• Experience in developing software that can be executed on accelerated hardware (GPU)
• Understanding of virtualization and/or containerization systems
• Ability to develop web applications
• Optional: Knowledge of relational databases
• Optional: Management of systems for running processes in batch mode on HPC systems (GridEngine and/or Slurm)

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN IS REQUIRED
