Applications are invited for a full-time Bioinformatics Analyst (BA) in the Bioinformatics Shared Resource Core led by Dr. Victor Jin, Professor of Biostatistics and Genomic Medicine at MCW (www.mcw.edu/departments/biostatistics/people/victor-x-jin-phd). The successful candidate will be expected to be cross-trained across our bioinformatics research production service lines, including bulk-cell and single-cell Exome-seq, DNA-seq, ChIP-seq, RRBS/BS-seq, ATAC-Seq, RNA-Seq, and Hi-C. Therefore, prior experience in the analyses and visualization of NGS data types is required, and epigenetic data types preferred. We use code and task management systems; the candidate is expected to operate in these systems to facilitate team communication, project tracking, and process reporting. Prior experience in managing a portfolio of work through software systems is desired. This position has primary responsibility for efficient and accurate completion of core services. This position has a secondary responsibility to contribute to the development, implementation and refinement of bioinformatics workflows. This BA position is expected to maintain current knowledge of the literature in bioinformatics, upholding and proactively improving analysis methods that underlie a wide variety of projects and publications.
- M.S. degree and preferably Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, molecular biology, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Research experience in computational genomics
- Proficiency in programming, ideally in C/C++ as well as in scripting languages such as perl/python, or R. Should be comfortable in a linux environment, with large data sets, computer clusters, and database software.
