The School of Engineering and Technology at the University of Washington (UW) Tacoma invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Systems program. This is a full-time (100% FTE) position with a nine-month service period, beginning September 2023. The successful candidate will pursue a vigorous research agenda and demonstrate a passion for teaching. The successful candidate will teach classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, conduct quality research that complements inquiry within the School of Engineering and Technology, actively participate in service to the university and profession, and promote a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students. Highly qualified applicants from any area of computer science or related fields will be considered.
About the University of Washington Tacoma:
UW Tacoma, one of the three UW campuses, is an urban undergraduate and graduate level campus that is evolving economically, culturally, and architecturally together with the region it serves (South Puget Sound region). The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) was created in 2001 through a public/private partnership to address the critical demand for producing computing and engineering professionals in the South Puget Sound. Today, SET has 33 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 19 teaching faculty, and approximately 925 students. SET faculty are successful at receiving research funding from federal/government grants/contracts, and industry partners. The Computer Science and Systems (CSS) program within SET offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees with 22 PhD students, 94 MS students, and 369 undergraduate majors. Faculty actively engage in research in Bioinformatics, Cryptography and Information Security, Data Science and Machine Learning, Distributed Systems (Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Smart Cities, and Vehicular Networks), GIS, and many other areas. In addition to CSS, SET students enroll in undergraduate degree programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Systems, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering, and graduate degree programs in Cybersecurity and Leadership and Electrical and Computer Engineering. Qualifications
