Description

The Cellular Engineering group at IBM Almaden Research Center is looking for an NSF fully funded postdoctoral researcher. The position begins immediately. The candidate is expected to develop and apply advanced AI/ML methods in cellular engineering and synthetic biology to understand biological systems and cellular dynamics. Our group integrates multidisciplinary methods to understand the basic principles underlying cell functions to modify and build cells with designed activity. Our group is part of the NSF Center for Cellular Construction and our focus is to leverage AI/ML methods for harnessing the power of cells and develop powerful predictive models of cellular structure and function.


Qualifications

PhD in Computational Biochemistry or Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. Proven experience with statistical analysis, and AI/ML methods applied to biological data and systems. Demonstrated working experience with collaborators and experimentalists. Experience with python programming. Fully dedicated, self-motivated, and committed to the application of novel AI/ML methods to cellular engineering and reprogramming. Students in their final year of Ph.D. training are encouraged to apply
