Position Description
The Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, in the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba is seeking an outstanding individual to fill a full-time, probationary (tenure-track) or tenured faculty position in computational biology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The successful candidate will develop a program that enhances the Department of Biochemistry & Medical Genetics' emerging strength in computational biology and precision medicine and enriches existing departmental research concentrations in cancer, epigenetics, rare genetic disorders, and neural/vascular development. The position could begin as early as April 1, 2023 or as negotiated.

Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an externally-funded research program. The potential for a strong linkage between the candidate's research program and the activities of one or more researchers in the Max Rady College of Medicine is desired. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to service through the bioinformatics platform housed in our Department (sites.google.com/view/umsgb/), undergraduate and graduate student teaching within our Department, and service activities within the department, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.
Qualifications :
Applicants with expertise in using or developing bioinformatics approaches are encouraged to apply to Position Number 32367. Preference will be given to applicants using large-scale omics datasets that enhance or complement departmental strengths. Candidates should hold an MD or PhD with at least 3 years of relevant post-graduate experience. Candidates must have an excellent research record, as evidenced by quality publications in respected journals; the potential to secure competitive extramural peer reviewed grants; a history of mentoring; and a history of effective and productive collaboration.
