The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in computational systems biology with focus on infectious diseases. The successful candidate will have a key role in a multi-disciplinary team to decipher the heterogeneous response to influenza towards the ultimate goal to understand the intrinsic factors and mechanisms responsible for the diverse response in a diverse population challenged by influenza. The research focus will encompass innovative computational methods development and data analysis by a multi-scale systems approach that integrates multi-omic, demographic, and clinical data from patients. The research engages collaborators in a cycle of iterative experimental design and analysis including multi-omics single-cell sequencing, and validation studies in mouse and human systems.
• Ph.D. in computational biology, genetics, statistics, computer science, molecular biology, biophysics, or a related field.
• A strong publication record and compelling professional references.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with the multidisciplinary cohort of researchers in our laboratory and with collaborators.
• Programming competence demonstrated in one or more of these programming languages: R, Python, C++, Java.
Additional Desired Qualifications
• Strong biological insight, in particular in infectious diseases and immunology, and previous experience in solving biological problems with computers.
• Experience with machine learning techniques
• Experience with functional multi-omics data as well as large-scale data retrieval and analysis.
