The Department of Management in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Organizational Behavior, starting Fall 2023. Since SDSU values high quality scholarship and teaching, the successful candidate must exhibit competence/potential in both areas. The first entails conducting high quality scholarship in Organizational Behavior resulting in top-tier journal publications and academic thought leadership. The second involves effectively teaching an undergraduate organizational behavior course called Leadership in Organizations and a graduate level elective called Leadership and Group Process. Teaching in the core undergraduate organizational behavior course will also be expected as needed. The candidate will be expected to be an active member in the Institute for Inclusiveness and Diversity in Organizations (IIDO). Filling this position will be contingent upon state funding.
The SDSU Fowler College of Business is among the nation’s oldest and largest AACSB accredited business schools. The Management department’s faculty include 19 tenure-track faculty as well as several full- and part-time lecturers. Support for research includes funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a budget for conference travel and other research-related expenses. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior, Management, or related area by August 2023. Well-qualified applicants will have demonstrated 1) ability or potential to publish high quality management research and 2) evidence of excellence in teaching organizational behavior or leadership courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. Candidates must satisfy two or more of the eight Building on Inclusive Excellence (BIE) criteria. Candidates that meet BIE criteria: (a) are committed to engaging in service with underrepresented populations within the discipline, (b) have demonstrated knowledge of barriers for underrepresented students and faculty within the discipline, (c) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students, (d) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to integrating understanding of underrepresented populations and communities into research, (e) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to extending knowledge of opportunities and challenges in achieving artistic/scholarly success to members of an underrepresented group, (f) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to research that engages underrepresented communities, (g) have expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and/or (h) have research interests that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education.
