The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) ( is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to the prevention, early detection, treatment, and eventual eradication of cancer. KCI is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM,, which has the largest single-campus medical school in the country.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work on developing statistical/computational methods and packages for analyzing LC/GC-MS-based metabolomics data. The candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with members of the Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Core, KCI, and Oncology department at WSUSOM.


The postdoctoral fellow is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or other relevant disciplines, with strong quantitative or computational research background, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in writing a scientific paper. The candidate is expected to be proficient in one of the popular programming languages (e.g., R, C, C++, FORTRAN, JAVA, MATLAB, Python, Perl, etc.). Although not required, experience in analyzing Big Data or omics data, working in high-performance computing (such as Bayesian MCMC or deep learning), and/or developing an R package or any other software packages is preferred.
