Come work for HPCBio, a core service group in the Carver Biotechnology Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We are hiring a new analyst and experience in any area of ’omics data is fine. We will also consider those with lesser experience but the ability to learn on the job through in-house training. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: MS degree in a field of science relevant to biological computing. Alternative degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experiences if relates to the position). Minimum of one year experience using bioinformatics methods to analyze high-throughput sequencing data.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching/training in a group setting or individually bioinformatics analysis techniques and best practices. Experience with R and Perl/Python. Basic high performance computational experience, such as submission of jobs on a cluster and how to monitor resource use.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of major software tools used in computational genomics, with a preference for experience in single-cell analysis, microbiome/metagenome work, and/or population genomics. Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl) or experience using R. Working knowledge of command-line Linux. Effective communication, organizational, team, and personal relations skills. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a professional demeanor in a diverse and fast-paced work environment consisting of multiple and changing priorities and tasks with stringent deadlines, under minimal supervision.
