Are you interested in being a key member of a bioinformatics team in a shared resource at a major cancer center? The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR), is seeking an Assistant Scientist in Biostatistics, Ph.D. level required. The individual is responsible for initiating and maintaining research collaborations with Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) basic scientists, clinicians, and epidemiologist, providing statistical expertise for cancer research. The individual will also work collaboratively with members of the division on research or development projects.

Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with Cancer Center members in developing protocols for phase I and phase II clinical trials.
2. Develop plans for statistical analyses, dose escalation, and interim monitoring of clinical trials.
3. Determine required sample size and statistical power, and establishes mechanisms for data collection, quality control, and statistical analysis.
4. Collaborate with Cancer Center members in planning laboratory-based and epidemiologic investigations.
5. Collaborate with Cancer Center members in preparing cancer-related grant proposals.
6. Advise on the design and development of research-study databases.
7. Remain current with new statistical methodology applicable to cancer studies, and incorporate major useful advances in practice.
8. Serve as a member of the Cancer Center's Protocol Review Committee and Data Safety and Monitoring Committee.
9. Collaborate with Cancer Center members to report and interpret results of quantitative data analysis, including preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and scientific posters and presentations.
10. Collaborate with the Information Technology and Clinical Research Services Divisions of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) to develop, maintain, and refine a computer system for interim monitoring and statistical analysis of clinical trials.
11. Participate in system design, including methods of data collection, data entry, quality control, interim study monitoring, and interim reporting and statistical analysis.
12. Support the Biostatistics component of BBSR on statistical aspects of Cancer Center research related to clinical trials, epidemiologic studies, and laboratory-based investigation.


Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degrees in Biostatistics or Statistics or other related field. A minimum of one years of experience after getting Ph.D. for Assistant Scientist are required. Applicant must have Post Doctoral level work in planning biomedical research studies and analyzing data from them, including clinical trials, laboratory investigations, and epidemiologic studies; knowledge of modern statistical computing methods, including SAS and R; knowledge of survival analysis, logistic regression, mixed models, repeated measures analysis, and multivariate regression methods. Excellent English skills (both verbal and written) required.
