OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Yamashita Lab is hiring a PhD level senior scientist in bioinformatics with the focus on analyzing and interpreting high-throughput sequencing data. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in genomics, computational biology, or a related field and have a track record of publications demonstrating bioinformatic analyses. The candidate should have experience with scripting and programming languages such as bash, R, and python, and have a creative drive to design and implement custom analyses of DNAseq, RNAseq and single-cell RNAseq. Ideally the candidate will have interest and familiarity with analyzing repetitive DNA in genomic datasets. The candidate is expected to become an integral part of the lab, familiarizing themselves with the ongoing projects in the lab to aid in bioinformatics analysis. The candidate will train researchers in the lab in bioinformatics analysis and may also have their own projects based on their own interest.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of Ph.D. in biology or related discipline.
• A minimum of two years of bioinformatics/computational biology experience.
• Background in programming (Perl and/or Python), statistics (R/Bioconductor) and databases (MySQL) in a Linux environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work well independently and with all levels of researchers in the lab.
• Must work well with others in a team environment.
• Must be flexible and demonstrate good skills in instruction and training.
• Experience with protein structure visualization and prediction, mass spectrometry, image analysis, or high‐dimensional datasets a plus.
