Description

The Department of Human Genetics in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health seeks an individual at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the appointment stream. This full-time position will contribute to the educational mission of the department by teaching and mentoring students in the Master of Science in Genome Bioinformatics program and other programs. This position includes service in Master of Science in Genome Bioinformatics program leadership and administration. The department offers the degrees of MS in Genetic Counseling, MPH in Public Health Genetics, MS in Genome Bioinformatics, MS in Human Genetics, and PhD in Human Genetics. Candidates may focus primarily on the educational mission of the department or may have a substantial interest in both teaching and research.


Qualifications

Candidates must possess a doctoral-level degree in a relevant field and must have a substantial interest in pedagogy and educational program development, demonstrated skills to teach bioinformatics, and a commitment to the school's values of respectful dialogue, cultural humility, and promotion of health equity. Additional desirable qualification(s) include research interest in public health genetics/genomics, precision public health/medicine, and/or industry experience in bioinformatics or consumer genetics. Appointment at the level of Associate Professor requires at least six years of experience post-doctorate and significant documented research and/or pedagogical accomplishment. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s background/experience.
