Description

Ad Astra Fellows, UCD School of Biology & Environmental Science
University College Dublin (UCD)
Dublin, Ireland

The UCD School of Biology & Environmental Science (SBES) welcomes applications to the new UCD Ad Astra Fellows programme. Successful candidates will join the largest teaching and research centre for integrative biology in the Republic of Ireland. The School is highly multi-disciplinary, with research activities focussed on exploring and understanding the processes that drive change from evolutionary and environmental perspectives and at levels ranging from the molecular and genetic to individual, ecosystem and landscape.
The School also makes major contributions to large-scale research activities through active involvement with the:

• UCD Earth Institute
• UCD Conway Institute for Biomolecular & Biomedical Research
• UCD Centre for Plant Science

SBES research groups are located in the heart of the UCD Belfield campus in the O’Brien Centre for Science. Groups have access to a wide range of support services and technology platforms, including a biological imaging suite, a genomics and metabolomics platform, environmental sample analysis facilities, and the Rosemount Environmental Research Station. Research activities in the School are broadly organised into three thematic areas:

• Cellular & Molecular Biology
• Genetics & Evolution
• Environmental Change & Sustainability

We are interested in recruiting new academic staff with expertise that aligns with one of these three thematic areas, who wish to develop their own independent research career, and who would be interested in making contributions to our dynamic teaching portfolio at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We encourage you to visit the School website, where you can find more details about our activities. For general information please contact Gillian Moran (gillian.moran@ucd.ie). For academic queries please contact Evelyn Doyle (evelyn.doyle@ucd.ie)
