The goal is to chart the genetic variation in Capsicum species, to address research questions in breeding. The candidate will develop and apply pan-genomics methods in our PanTools platform to analyze data from 108 different Capsicum accessions, to characterize the core and dispensable genome, inventory (structural) variations, and identify candidate genes underlying traits like disease resistance, stress tolerance, seed weight, or fruit development.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in bioinformatics, plant biotechnology/genomics or related field. We are specifically seeking a candidate with a strong programming skills (Java and/or Python), communciation skills, experience in genomics tools and affinity with practical applications in crop research and plant breeding.
