junior group leader in computational biology

Description

The Institut Pasteur seeks to recruit new research groups to reinforce its capacity in computational biology. We are looking for a junior group leader in one or several areas of computational biology – including bioinformatics, biostatistics, integrative biology, modeling, etc.- with a strong methodological research axis and proven ability to collaborate. This includes, but is not limited to, the field of understanding disease emergence using large biological, medical or socioeconomic data sets, also supported by the Inception program.

Successful applicants will join the Department of Computational Biology and enjoy the vibrant interdisciplinary environment offered by Institut Pasteur. Candidates are encouraged to contact the head of department, Dr. Christophe Zimmer (czimmer@pasteur.fr).

Institut Pasteur is a non-profit private foundation dedicated to fundamental, interdisciplinary research and to the translation of knowledge for applications in medicine and public health (research.pasteur.fr/en/departments/) Located in central Paris, it offers an outstanding and unparalleled research environment with state-of-the-art research laboratories, 20 technology platforms (research.pasteur.fr/en/center/c2rt/), and a large bioinformatics and biostatistics support group.

Depending on their previous experience, successful candidates will be appointed with a tenure track position to head a group of 6 (G5 track) or 8 people (G5+ track). These groups will be created for a period of 5 years and may thereafter apply for a 10-year full research group (U10). The duration of the group will be extended in case of maternity leave.

Institut Pasteur values diverse perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting, and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus environment.

Eligibility: G5 track junior group leaders must be less than 8 years after PhD, while G5+ track group leaders must be less than 12 years after PhD at the time of submission. For the G5 track, women are eligible up to 10 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 12 years after their PhD if they have two or more children. For the G5+ track, women are eligible up to 14 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 16 years after their PhD if they have two or more children. Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria could nevertheless be considered.

Highly attractive packages to match the experience of the candidate will be provided, including institutional salaries (principal investigator, technician, post-doctoral fellows), a substantial contribution to running costs and equipment, access to on campus state-of-the-art technology core facilities, as well as support for relocation expenses and administrative issues.
