The Biology Department at Stonehill College invites applicants for an assistant professor, tenure-track appointment in Biology to begin July 2022. This person would join a collegial department of seventeen full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to continual growth as educators and mentors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The position involves teaching, advising, and directing a productive research program with undergraduates. Primary teaching duties include teaching an introductory biology lecture and lab, introductory and applied bioinformatics courses that augment the Data Analytics minor, and/or an upper-level course that otherwise falls within the candidate’s specialty. Qualified candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: bioinformatics, analysis of big data, computational biology or ecology, biostatistics, genomics/transcriptomics, modeling, programming, and/or computational methods. Research programs that are theoretical, wet-lab-based, field-based, or use a combination of approaches will be supported.
Education & Experience
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biology, bioinformatics, evolution, ecology, computational biology, or a related discipline and have postdoctoral research and undergraduate teaching experience. We are particularly interested in candidates who could teach an upper-level organismal course.
