The Biological Sciences Division and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago are seeking an Assistant Professor focused on clinical informatics. The appointee is expected to develop an independent research program focused on rigorous investigation, the development of novel approaches to data analysis, and the translation of findings and observations into the clinical setting. The Department fosters a strong interactive environment with translational investigators focused on oncology, neurosciences, neonatal medicine, critical care medicine, gastroenterology, and other areas. A particular strength is large and expanding clinical data repositories, giving researchers access to highly-curated, high-quality clinical data. Extensive opportunities for collaboration are available with investigators in the Biological Sciences Division and the rest of the University, including the Department of Computer Science. In addition, there are opportunities to work with leadership and staff from UChicago Medicine in order to harness the advanced technology and analytics available. We especially welcome physician-scientists applicants focused on challenges that have relevance to pediatric health and disease.

In addition to teaching medical students, graduate students, residents and fellows, our faculty conducts cutting-edge translational and clinical research. The appointee will be expected to participate as a core faculty member in our Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics and Clinical Informatics fellowship programs. UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital is a 165 bed children's hospital with a full complement of pediatric services.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) in Medicine, Informatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or a related field. Assessment of applications will consider applicants who have successfully led, completed and published scientific manuscripts and/or received federally funded grant applications in the informatics domain.
