Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Computational Scientist at level III or IV to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute towards digital transformation of our department. The ideal candidate shall be a versatile scientist adept at developing novel computational methods for in-silico antibody discovery and engineering as well as at creating digital platforms to enable automation of drug discovery.

Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:



Develops workflow pipelines, custom software and makes them accessible over webpages for applications to V-gene sequencing, hit selection, lead identification and optimization.
Develops innovative solutions to enable large scale analyses of antibody sequences and structures to enhance our scientific understanding of Immunology.
Supports on-going digitalization efforts through collaboration with lab-based scientists to identify opportunities for digital solutions
Work with multi-disciplinary groups of experimentalists, including those involved in protein expression, purification, biophysical characterization, and drug development to support drug discovery portfolio.
Skills:



Hands-on Experience with protein bioinformatics and computational biophysics
Computer programming and full-stack software development
Familiarity with protein structure—function relationships, particularly for monoclonal antibodies and multi-specific antibody-based formats
Proficient in data science particularly in AI/ML and generative algorithms
Good written and oral communication skills
Independent thinking and high motivation level
Scientist III Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related with concentration in Bioinformatics/Computational biology or other related and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in bioinformatics data curation, analyses, software development and web-based deployment, acquired preferably in a Biopharmaceutical Industry environment

OR

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related with concentration in Bioinformatics/Computational biology or other related and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in bioinformatics data curation, analyses, software development and web-based deployment, acquired preferably in a Biopharmaceutical Industry environment

Scientist IV Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related with concentration in Bioinformatics/Computational biology or other related and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in bioinformatics data curation, analyses, software development and web-based deployment, acquired preferably in a Biopharmaceutical Industry environment

OR

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related with concentration in Bioinformatics/Computational biology or other related and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in bioinformatics data curation, analyses, software development and web-based deployment, acquired preferably in a Biopharmaceutical Industry environment

Other Requirements:

Familiarity with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and high performance computing
Familiarity with commonly used bioinformatics toolkits, Jupyter notebook, MOE, Schrodinger, Rosetta, and other biomolecular modeling applications
Evidence of scientific productivity via publications in peer reviewed journals.
Eligibility Requirements:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
