An Assistant Staff Scientist position is available in the in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (biochemistry.uams.edu/) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to extract and compile medical research data from existing databases within the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. This position works closely with CI faculty to perform targeted database queries and distribute requested data in compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) rules and regulations.

Salary offered commensurate with experience
Clean and compile new data entries from clinical systems. Perform QC checks to ensure data integrity. Add new users and/or changing user permissions. Coordinate with researchers to extract requested data from clinical databases. Other duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with clinical trials or clinical data.
Experience with at least one of the following: SAS, R(R project for statistical computing) and/or SPSS (1 year).
Experience with MS-SQL (1 year) and MS Excel (1+ years).
Experience in database management.
Able to design and maintain MS-Access database, especially forms and VBA modules.
Able to design, maintain and extract data from MS-SQL databases.
Knowledge of basic biology.
Knowledge of IRB rules and regulations, ensure adherence to FDA CFR policies.
