Overview
An Assistant Staff Scientist position is available in the in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (biochemistry.uams.edu/) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to maintain a cloud computing environment for the IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics. This position works closely with bioinformatics staff to assist with data transfers, software installs on cloud servers, optimization of bioinformatics pipelines, and database queries in a GCP environment.

Responsibilities
Ensure proper software is installed, add new users and/or changing user permissions, data transfer and storage, optimizing bioinformatics pipelines in cloud environment.
Maintain a SQL database in the cloud, coordinating with proteomics and bioinformatics staff to extract requested data from SQL database and providing reports of metrics.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related field plus two (2) years of SQL and cloud computing experience required.
At least one (1) year of experience with at least one of the following: python, R (R project for statistical computing), and/or Jupyter Notebook.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to design, maintain, and extract data from SQL database.
Knowledge of basic biology.
Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in statistical analysis, omics databases, developing bioinformatics pipelines, design of experiments.
Post-Doctoral or equivalent experience preferred.
