The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is offering a position as

Postdoc in Bioinformatics (all genders)

to support our Single-Cell Center

The Single-Cell Center is a new joint competence center of the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) with the Medical Faculty of the Julius Maximilians University (JMU) in Würzburg. Its objective is to analyze and understand diseases at the level of individual cells. In the future, this will enable the earliest possible and most reliable prediction of a disease and how they can be treated in the best possible way. More information at www.helmholtz-hiri.de.

Your responsibilities
- Analysis and interpretation of functional genomics data
- Development of analyses pipelines tailored to single cell multi-omics data, such as scRNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq and spatial transcriptomics
- Development of data integration approaches for single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, CITE-seq, and spatial data modalities (spatial transcriptomics, imaging-based transcriptomics)
- Analysis of high-resolution imaging data
- Consulting, advising and collaboration with experimental scientists and clinicians

Your profile
- PhD or equivalent in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related field in the computational or natural sciences
- Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis using Python and R/Bioconductor packages
- Experience working in a Linux-based high-performance computing environment
- Experience with single-cell RNA-seq, and/or computational image analysis is desired, though not essential
- Experience with scientific workflow development (e.g. Nextflow, Snakemake) is a plus - Basic knowledge of molecular biology and related disciplines, or a desire to learn more about it
- Strong written and spoken English language communication skills
- A creative, collaborative outlook and service orientation

The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is the first institution worldwide to combine ribonucleic acid (RNA) research with infection biology.
