Description

We seek a new colleague who will actively contribute to the research in the Bioinformatics research group and will be responsible for teaching various courses in Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence curricula. We look for an active researcher in the bioinformatics domain, using machine learning as underlying methodology, or a researcher with a focus on Artificial Intelligence with applications in the domain of bioinformatics. The successful applicant will receive a well-structured tenure track appointment.

Your duties:
The tenure track position starts at the level of assistant professor. It involves the areas of research, education and management (40%:40%:20%) and contains the following duties:
performing research in the field of bioinformatics, with a focus on machine learning, or performing research in the field of machine learning, with applications in Bioinformatics
* supervising PhD students
* coordinating two courses, one in the field of Bioinformatics one in the field of AI
* developing new course material
* supervising MSc student research projects in Bioinformatics and AI
* contributing to and write research grant proposals
* contributing to organisational tasks in the department

Qualifications

* completed a PhD in Bioinformatics or Machine Learning
* a strong international research profile in Bioinformatics with a focus on machine learning in biomolecular medicine, or a strong profile in AI with applications in the biomolecular domain, as shown by publications in the top journals in the field of computational biology
* academic teaching experience and/or experience in the supervision of MSc/PhD students
* priority will be given to applicants who have successfully applied for research funding, either individually or collaboratively
