Description

The Center for Neurogenetics (CNG), in the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine seeks Computer Scientists for bioinformatics positions at the Postdoctoral, Instructor or Research Associate level.

Successful candidates would join a unique team of physicians, geneticists neuroscientists and computational colleagues in the CNG to investigate the impact of human genome variation and gene expression on diseases of the nervous system that manifest in children or adults.

Projects include:
Interpretation of variants of uncertain significance (VUS), including novel approaches to computational prediction of pathogenicity
Gene network analyses and exploration of polygenic risk scores (PRS) relevant to complex genetic disorders
Evaluation of intergenic region SNVs and structural variation, their impact on gene expression and disease pathogenesis
Transcriptomics, including single cell RNAseq and regulation of transcript splicing in human stem cell and animal models of brain disease

Qualifications

Requirements:
PhD in bioinformatics/computer science and computational biology
Programming skills in multiple languages
Experience in working on clusters and good programming skills
Experience applied to biomedical sciences
Experience in Machine Learning highly desirable
Experience in genome evaluation highly desirable, especially in regard to principles of genetic inheritance, estimates of pathogenicity (SIFT, Polyphen CADD, etc.), use of OMIM, ClinVar and genome databases including gnomAD, 1000 Genomes, dbGAP)
