Description

Position Function: The Institute for Genomics, Biocomputing and Biotechnology (IGBB) seeks applicants for a postdoctoral research associate position in bioinformatics and computational biology. The postdoctoral associate will participate in research exploring the computational biology of plant genomes, develop methods and tools for comparative analysis of several plant species and analyze the structure and dynamics of gene networks. The work will require developing pipelines for analysis of plant next-generation sequencing data (RNASeq, HiC, long/short reads assembly, metagenomics), new bioinformatics methods and algorithms for transcriptome dynamics analysis, regulatory networks inference, gene networks alignment, and CNV and SNP detection and association. The work will involve integration of multiple experimental datasets (genotype-phenotype analysis, transcriptomics, proteomics), to predict conserved pathways, to perform analyses of structure and dynamics of plant gene networks and to identify signal-processing networks in multiple plant species.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Experience in computational biology and bioinformatics; good computer programming skills; knowledge of NGS technologies and pipelines; familiarity with HPC and cloud computing bioinformatics environments; a strong interest in developing quantitative biology methods and tools; good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
