Description

As part of the new University of Melbourne - Illumina Genomics Hub we are looking for a senior bioinformatician (UOM 9, $126,004 - $131,097 AUD) to lead the development of methods and workflows for the rapid analysis and management of whole genome, transcriptome and ctDNA sequencing data of cancer patients to aid in the diagnosis and treatment process.

All positions that we offer are funded for at least two years and offer 17% superannuation. Working hours are flexible, remote work is a given and part-time work can be negotiated. Qualifications

We expect you to have experience with Python, Snakemake or other workflow languages, a solid understanding of programming best practices, 3+ years of work experience post-degree and ideally familiarity with cloud computing environments. Your responsibilities are flexible and depend on both your interests and expertise. A background in cancer genomics is not a requirement, but you should be passionate about open source software development and establishing a genomics platform to change cancer patient care.
