The Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing (SoIC) at IUPUI invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of BioHealth Informatics (BHI). The appointment will begin August 1, 2021 at the Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus. Exceptional faculty candidates are sought to join our fast-growing department. Candidates should demonstrate a strong scholarly record of effective, well-reviewed teaching in bioinformatics accompanied by a scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, research agenda.
We seek candidates in all areas of Bioinformatics and Health/Biomedical Informatics.
By strengthening or complementing the faculty research in the department, the ideal candidates will use creative, innovative approaches and technologies to address fundamental BHI challenges with broader societal impact, and have the potential to leverage the strengths of the School of Informatics and Computing, including the Polis Center, the Collaborative AI Institute established at the IUPUI Campus level, the unique location in downtown Indianapolis, interdisciplinary and collaborative environment and nation-wide leadership in the health and life sciences.
As a Visiting Assistant Professor for the BHI Department, the individual will have responsibility for developing their teaching (75%) and research programs (25%) - thus contributing to the educational and service roles of the department.


Qualifications

• Ph.D. or clinical doctorate (M.D., D.N.P., D.D.S. or Pharm.D.), a doctorate in clinical or related Informatics, Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Communications or other Social Sciences, or related fields. Applicants must have completed their degree by the date of appointment.
• Demonstrated ability to exhibit effective teaching and to creatively adapt and diversify pedagogy for online or blended learning.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop a cutting edge, independent research program.
