Description

Multiple positions are available @ Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (US News Top 20 Medical School)

Our lab (long read sequencing + experiment + computation) pioneered the fast growing field of bacterial epigenomics (Nature Biotechnology, 2012; Nature Reviews Genetics, 2018, Nature Microbiology, 2020). We also pioneered the use of DNA methylation for high resolution microbiome analysis (Nature Biotechnology, 2018; Nature Methods, 2021). We also use long read sequencing to study the human genome, epigenome and transcriptome (Genome Research, 2018; Nature Genetics, 2019). We have unique expertise in PacBio and Oxford Nanopore sequencing.

Publications: Nature Methods, 2021 (in press) Nature Microbiology, 2020 Trends in Microbiology, 2020 Nature Genetics, 2019 Nature Communications, 2019 Nature Reviews Genetics, 2018 Nature Biotechnology, 2018 Genome Research, 2018 Nature, 2016 Cell Reports, 2016 Nature Communications, 2015 PLoS Genetics, 2015 Nature Communications, 2014 Molecular Psychiatry, 2014 PLoS Genetics, 2013 PLoS Computational Biology, 2013 Genome Research, 2012 * Nature Biotechnology, 2012

We are looking for highly motivated PostDoc Fellows and Sr. Scientists on Technology Development, Systems Biology and Precision Medicine. Three sub-directions along Infectious Diseases, Brain Disorders and Immune Disorders.

1) Long reads based epigenomics
2) Long reads based microbiomics
3) Long reads based transcriptomics

Successful candidates will have unique opportunities with

(i) a highly interdisciplinary and innovative lab culture where members with dry/wet background closely discuss and learn from each other;
(ii) our unique expertise in long read sequencing, multi-omics, rich clinical samples and strong collaborators;
(iii) take the lead role in projects developing cutting edge, pioneering technologies with high biomedical and clinical impact;
(iv) strong mentorship in both research and career development;
(v) Compensations are highly competitive with subsidized housing in New York City.

Qualifications

Requirements: 1) Candidates with computational or experimental background are both welcomed. 2a) Candidates with computational background are expected to have solid training in bioinformatics, genomics, epigenomics transcriptomics, or metagenomics, 2b) Candidates with molecular biology skills are expected to have solid experience in bacterial genetics. 3) Ability to learn and master new technologies and skills, 4) Abilities to lead an independent research direction while adapting to a collaborative environment, 5) An innovative yet critical thinker.
