Postdoctoral position in Cancer Immunotherapy/Computational Biology

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey
Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey
United States NJ New Brunswick

Description

A postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Christian Hinrichs to study CAR-T cell therapy and computational biology is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey

The candidate will join the new Cell Therapy research program. The goal of the research is to develop and apply computational genomics and bioinformatics tools based on next generation sequencing data for better understanding of cancer response and resistance to immunotherapy. The Hinrichs group has particular interest in defining the landscape of tumor-intrinsic, immune-related gene defects that mediate immunotherapy resistance. This research includes study of somatic mutations, copy number variants, gene expression profiling, tumor heterogeneity, single cell genomics, and tumor systems biology. There will be opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary team both in clinical and laboratory research settings on a variety of high impact, cutting edge projects.

The candidate should have a PhD in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related areas, and demonstrate evidence of proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and R. Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX is required. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions. Preferences will be given to the candidates who have prior experience of working with next generation sequencing data on high performance computing clusters. Exposure to cancer genomics data is preferred but it is not essential.

Applicants will need to apply via the Rutgers University job posting and submit a cover letter and a CV, including publications and contact details of at least three references. Please contact Dr. Christian Hinrichs at ch977@cinj.rutgers.edu with questions.
