AgBiome is a biotechnology company that uses new knowledge of the plant-associated microbiome to create innovative products for agriculture and life sciences. We have around 100 employees and occupy a state-of-the-art facility (office, labs, greenhouse) in Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Computational Biologist to join the Data Science group with a focus on Insect Control Traits in RTP, NC. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to enable and advance pipeline projects across diverse agricultural pests. As an integral member of the group, the successful candidate will make significant contributions to identify, develop, implement and use computational biology methods to impact insect control trait discovery and development. The candidate will be expected to work in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment and expected to communicate complex informatics principles, methods, analyses, and results to scientists from diverse backgrounds.

Position Responsibilities:
Lead the in silico discovery and identification of Insect Control Traits.
Facilitate the integration of data and insights from the entire discovery pipeline.
Apply advanced mathematical models and protein modeling methods to discover and characterize genes.
Develop testable hypotheses and partner with the Biochemistry Team to identify protein engineering targets
Effectively communicate scientific results to diverse audiences internally and to external partners.
Contribute to the ongoing implementation of Data Science team vision through analyses, visualizations, and data delivery tools; and collaborate with other members of the Data Science team on varied research projects.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:
Ph.D. degree or M.Sc. in a relevant field (ie. computational biology, biochemistry) and a minimum of 5+ years of broad experience in computational biology.
Experience in scientific computing, environment managers, version control, cloud computing is highly desirable
Preferred experience with Python and R, Docker and Conda, GitHub, and AWS.
Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary teams. Diligence to follow through with commitments, and deliver tangible outcomes.
Strong communication skills and ability to customize messages to diverse audiences.
Strong commitment to professional development and the development of others.
Strong prioritization skills, self-motivated, and proactive.
Must be able to legally work in the United States.
