Description

Applications are invited for a bioinformatics postdoctoral position in the area of computational genomics and bioinformatics in the group of Professor Deyou Zheng at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. The group is interested in the application and development of bioinformatics and genomics software and methods for mining functional genomics data for studying neural and heart development, psychiatric disorders, and congenital heart defects. The research projects are relative diverse but have a focus on constructing gene regulation networks and pathways from integrated analysis of functional genomic data (e.g, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq) that are related to either mouse or human organ development. Another project is about motif discovery and thus more methodology.

Qualifications

We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in collaborative work and solid experience in bioinformatics and genomics data analysis. A Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related areas is required. An ideal candidate would have demonstrated expertise and track record in computational programming in python and R, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, or systems genomics. Knowledge of biological principles and organ developments will be a strong plus. Although an interest in wet-lab experiments is not a must, the successful candidate is expected to work closely with biological experimentalists. Good communication skills in English is required to be able to work with the team.
