The Medical University of Vienna is looking for excellent candidates to start a new research group in the field of Computational Biosciences, addressing substantial research questions in the area of computational methods in the life sciences. The successful candidate will launch their independent scientific career in an ambitious, supportive environment at one of Europe’s leading institutions for biomedical and clinical research. The offered tenure-track position depends on the successful funding by the Vienna Science and Technology Fund.
What we offer:
• Official nomination and support for the Vienna Science and Technology Fund program “Computational Biosciences” (www.wwtf.at/upload/VRG20_print_v1.pdf), which provides startup funding of up to EUR 1.6 million over five years to the successful candidates.
• Tenure-track assistant professorship position according to § 99 (5) University Law 2002 (UG) at the Medical University of Vienna, contingent upon successful application to the above-mentioned program.

Your profile:
• Excellent publication record in computational biosciences, including but not limited to bioinformatics, genomics, immunology, machine learning, medical imaging, neurology, oncology, or statistics.
• Strong background in computational methods development and application in biomedical research.
• PhD in the quantitative sciences (computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, etc.) or the life sciences (biology, medicine, etc.) obtained in the last two to eight years.
• Ambition to build and lead a globally competitive research group in the wider area of computational biosciences, with strong collaborations in biology and/or medicine.
• The Medical University of Vienna is committed to a diverse workforce driven by scientific excellence. Women are especially encouraged to apply. German-language skills are not required.
