Description

Assistant/Associate Member
Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
Moffitt Cancer Center

The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a faculty member in the tenure-earning rank of Assistant/Associate Member with preference for strong expertise in computational immunology and/or bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput sequencing data. Moffitt is one of the pioneers in developing and delivering immunotherapies to cancer patients. This position will have the opportunity to collaborate and leverage Moffitt’s expertise in cutting-edge of immuno-oncology in pre-clinical and clinical domains, ranging from cancer vaccines, immune checkpoint inhibitors to cellular immunotherapy (CAR T therapy). Moffitt’s research is supported by the well-equipped next-generation technologies and platforms, and this position will have access to data generated from these technologies (e.g. single cell sequencing, multiplex immunohistochemistry, live cell imaging system etc). Methodological research and development in bioinformatics are also expected for this position. Moffitt currently has four National Institutes of Health funded training grants (T32), including a recently funded Integrated Program in Cancer and Data Science (ICADS). Moffitt is affiliated with the University of South Florida and a University appointment is available in the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor as applicable. This position will have the opportunity to recruit and mentor talented graduate students and post-doctoral research fellows through these training programs. Come and join Moffitt if you want to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer!

The Department currently has 18 faculty and 27 staff engaged in a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics research and collaborations on clinical and biological studies in cancer including novel therapeutic and drug discoveries, prognostic and predictive biomarker developments, chemoprevention, high throughput genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, next-generation sequencing data-based investigations, epidemiological studies, comparative effectiveness research, clinical trial designs, and personalized medicine studies. Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular data on a large number of cancer patients.

Academic rank beyond Assistant Member will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment at the Associate Member rank requires a minimum of five years of experience at the Assistant Member/Assistant Professor level. The position is tenure-earning with competitive salary and start-up package.

Located in Tampa, this position welcomes someone who appreciates the great beaches and easy living associated with the Gulf Coast of Florida. Tampa is a thriving city with culture, restaurants and a high quality of life.
