The Biology Department at Washington & Jefferson (W&J) College invites applicants for a full-time tenure track assistant professor position starting in Fall 2020. We are seeking a computational biologist with significant experience with one or more programming language (e.g. Perl, Python, Java) and statistical environment (e.g. R or Matlab).


Qualifications

The candidate should be prepared to develop and teach courses related to their expertise in computational biology such as bioinformatics, genomics, or biological modeling, as well as teach foundational biology courses. The ideal candidate will lead the initiative on incorporating an interdisciplinary base for understanding life sciences in the era of “big data” within the undergraduate biology curriculum. In addition to teaching, the candidate is expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students. The candidate may also participate in interdisciplinary programs including the Computational Science concentration and an integrated first-year experience. Biologists from diverse disciplines including ecology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics, and systems biology are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must provide evidence of a commitment to teaching undergraduates.
