The Department of Emergency Medicine and the Center for Biomedical Informatics, University of Missouri School of Medicine, invite applications for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position. We seek creative Data Scientists, Applied Mathematicians, Statisticians or Bioinformaticians with a strong theoretical foundation and with a demonstrated commitment to applying new approaches, theoretically sound methods, computational means and tools to tackle challenging biomedical and translational precision medicine questions arising in this era of ‘big data’ integrated from heterogeneous domains of genetics, biological, clinical and (patho)physiological sources in pursuit of improved Emergency Medicine practice.

Candidates with experience in applications to the biomedical sciences and a research record including biomedical computing or integrative computational analysis are encouraged to apply. The University of Missouri’s Center for Biomedical Informatics, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Department of Health Management and Informatics (all in the School of Medicine) offer a unique collection of opportunities in its Program of Translational Precision Emergency Medicine that includes a wide collection of problems formed by multidisciplinary teams consisting of members from across the biomedical and clinical disciplines to bioinformaticians, healthcare IT experts and central to the effort, faculty from the Department of Emergency Medicine and the programs, projects and activities housed in the School of Medicine’s Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI).

CBMI has created a supportive and interactive environment for researchers with quantitative and theoretical skills to work collaboratively - if not lead - strong collaborative Programs at the SOM affiliated hospitals and clinics. The successful candidate will be housed in the CBMI with primary appointment in the Department of Health Management and Informatics and secondary appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine, and will participate in CBMI’s educational programs and the SOM graduate programs with their established record of attracting extraordinary graduate students.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have earned a PhD degree in any Quantitative Discipline (Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related).

Preferred Qualifications: A demonstrated record of success in biomedical and/or clinical research, including original publications and independent funding. Academic rank at the Department of Health Management and Informatics and the Department of Emergency Medicine will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Demonstrated quantitative reasoning and skills. Demonstrated experience in health, clinical or biomedical research and/or a Medical Degree (MD, DO, PharmD, DSc, DVM, or related). Candidates must have a minimum of two or more first or corresponding author publications within the last five years.
