Description

CONTEXT:
Imagine is an interdisciplinary research center focused on human rare genetic diseases located at the Necker Hospital campus in the heart of Paris. Imagine is an INSERM research unit, and is affiliated to the Université Paris Descartes (Sorbonne Paris Cité) and the Paris Public Hospital Group (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris). The Clinical Bioinformatics Laboratory of the Imagine Institute, under the direction of Dr. Antonio Rausell, develops statistical methods and bioinformatics pipelines with a clinical focus. A main research line of the laboratory is the computational assessment of human rare genetic variants with a potential clinical impact and its application to the study of specific rare diseases.

JOB DESCRIPTION
In this context, the Clinical Bioinformatics lab is seeking 1 postdoc to develop computational methods and pipelines for Whole Genome Sequencing analyses of multi-cohort studies of rare diseases currently ongoing at the Imagine Institute. The project will integrate clinical phenotypes from heterogeneous disease cohorts and multi-omics datasets derived from patient’s samples (mainly RNA-seq and Hi-C). Methodological research will focus on the analysis of de novo variants, mutational burden, non-coding variants with potential regulatory consequences and on modifier variants/genes. Research will be performed in a highly interdisciplinary environment and in close interaction with clinical and experimental teams at the Imagine/Necker Hospital.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD/MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Mathematics or similar. Previous experience in WGS/WES, large-scale ‘omics’ data analyses and strong data analyses skills will be a plus. We are looking for knowledgeable candidates with versatile skills, with an eye on basic science and another on translational applications in the clinic. The positions will require a constant interaction with computational, experimental labs, platforms and clinicians.

Start date

October 01, 2019

How to Apply

Interested candidates should send a CV and a motivation letter to antonio.rausell@inserm.fr (either in English or French). The desired starting date is October - November 2019. Review of applications will begin immediately and will finish as soon as an ideal candidate is found. Antonio Rausell will attend ISMB/ECCB 2019 in Basel. Please contact him by email or twitter (@AntonioRausell) if you are around for an informal conversation about the position
