Description

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Yu lab ( jyyulab.github.io ) to conduct translational research in pediatric solid tumors in collaboration with the Developmental Biology & Solid Tumor Program at St. Jude. The candidate will develop and apply computational and systems biology approaches to dissect the molecular circuits that drive tumorigenesis, tumor immune-escape and drug resistance, and identification of biomarkers and combination therapies for the treatment of children with solid tumors. The candidate will have direct access to the Childhood Solid Tumor Network (CSTN), the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of scientific resources for pediatric solid tumors and related biology. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Yu and staff scientists in his lab with the end goal of contributing to the discovery of novel network biomarkers and combination therapies (with a focus on immunotherapy) for pediatric solid tumors by integration of high dimensional transcriptomic, genomic, epigenomic, functional genomic, chemical genomic, and proteomic data generated from patients or cell models at the bulk or single-cell level. Any highly-motivated researcher who has strong interests in translational and precision medicine is encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
The lab will provide working experience for a postdoctoral research associate who is interested in leading or participating in all aspects of cancer omics studies via multi-disciplinary teamwork with mentoring from Dr. Yu and other scientists. The selected candidate will have opportunities to interact with leaders in the fields of pediatric cancer and translational research within and outside the institution. Innovative research leading to high-impact scientific publication is highly encouraged and will be supported by the department's research infrastructure. For those with ambitious career goals, inter-disciplinary training will be provided to broaden or strengthen computational or biological expertise.

St. Jude provides a highly interactive and supportive environment for researchers' career development.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have expertise in 1) cancer biology, molecular biology, functional genomics technology (RNAi/CRISPR), or immunology with a strong interest in quantitative data analysis or 2) expertise or experience in computational and systems biology or network biology with a strong interest in translational cancer research. Background or experience in solid tumors is preferred. The candidate is expected to be a critical thinker, a quick learner for new analytical approaches and capable to apply or develop novel computational methods for solving complex problems. Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment are essential. Candidates with a recent PhD and evidence of scientific accomplishment are encouraged to apply for job 39784 at postdoc-stjude.icims.com/jobs/4712/postdoctoral-research-associate/job
