Description

One postdoctoral position in the area of structural bioinformatics is available immediately in Professor Kihara group at Department of Biological Sciences/Computer Science at Purdue University.
The primary areas sought are:
1) protein-protein docking modeling
2) protein tertiary structure modeling & prediction
3)global/local shape comparison and search. Experience in 3D shape retrieval is a plus.
4)Low-resolution structure data. Experiences in electron microscopy or tomography data analysis is advantageous.
5) Ligand-protein docking, virtual screening. The project involves collaboration with experimental biophysicists and biologists in identifying ligand binding proteins in proteomics scale.

The group is highly interdisciplinary. Taking advantage of the PIs joint appointment between Dept. of Biological Sciences and Computer Science, the group holds students and postdocs with a biology background, computer science background, and other areas such as statistics.

Purdue University has one of the largest international student populations in US universities. The highly international and safe city will provide comfortable academic life for domestic and international researchers. The university has a strong collaborative atmosphere and the PI group has several collaborations with groups in different departments across the campus.
