Description

Dr. Shaun Mahony is seeking postdoctoral researchers in computational biology to join his laboratory in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at Penn State University (mahonylab.org). The primary focus of these postdoctoral position is to develop machine learning approaches for characterizing protein-DNA interactions in very large collections of regulatory genomics datasets. One ongoing NIH-funded project, in collaboration with Dr. Frank Pugh, aims to characterize mammalian enhanceosome organization from large collections of ChIP-exo datasets. Another ongoing NIH-funded project, in collaboration with Dr. Ross Hardison, aims to develop scalable genome segmentation methods that can characterize regulatory states consistently across large numbers of cell types. Both projects afford the opportunity to develop and apply novel machine learning approaches to genomic data collections.
