The world-class Integrative Omics group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking an experienced computational scientist with strong experience in mass-spectrometry signal processing and data interpretation as applied to proteomics and metabolomics. The successful candidate will lead a team of computational scientists and bioinformaticians that collaborate with scientists and instrument development teams as they apply omics technologies to a broad range of biological applications.
Motivated individuals with a minimum of a PhD degree and a background in one or more of the areas of software development, computer engineering and informatics are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will lead and/or help direct the development of algorithms and software to process and interpret data, whether from commercial or novel instrumentation, for proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, etc. The selected candidate will benefit from an exemplary team environment and the candidate will be expected to interact and communicate with this team of world-renowned scientists and staff with multidisciplinary backgrounds. Through these interactions the successful candidate will lead the development of advanced strategies and analysis routines that will be integrated into our high-throughput analysis platforms. These strategies will be applied to a broad range of biological applications, facilitating the ability to collaborate both with scientists at PNNL and with highly recognized scientists at universities and other research institutes.


Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years experience in software development, computer engineering and informatics; OR Master's Degree with 5+ years experience in software development, computer engineering and informatics; OR PhD with 4+ experience in developing and applying new instrumental technologies in the field of mass spectrometry informatics.
• The position is dependent on strong computational experience and mass spectrometry with some background in biology.
• Software development background required with experience in data management and informatics. Programming languages include: C# and/or Java; experience with C++, Python, R, and SQL is also beneficial.
• Independent, self-initiative, ability to articulate ideas clearly and experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
