Description

Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) has opportunities in the Data Sciences and Informatics program as a part of the School’s Precision Health Initiative, which has a $120 million investment to address major and large-scale health problems facing humanity through multidisciplinary teams of talented and highly motivated researchers. These can be tenure-track, research-track, or clinical positions and open to all academic ranks.

Ample resources for research and collaboration, including:
• The Center for Medical Genomics (CMG), a state-of-the-art technology center that provides medical scientists with affordable access to high-quality high-throughput genomics services in a timely fashion.
• The Indiana Network for Patient Care research database (INPCR)—a database housing more than 18 million individual patient records over 30 years—a resource nearly unparalleled for clinical research around the world. The Indiana Network for Patient Care (INPC) is run by Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE), and includes data elements such as admission and discharge data, lab reports, microbiology, pathology, radiology, cardiology, and EKG data.
• Close working relationship with the Regenstrief Institute and its unparalleled health data, informatics, data analytics resources, as well as internationally recognized faculty and staff.
• Indiana clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), which fosters collaborations with researchers at Notre Dame and Purdue Universities.

This might be the opportunity for you if you have experience and interest in biomedical data science, bioinformatics, systems biology, or biomedical informatics, particularly in the following areas:
• Integrative analysis of genomic, molecular, imaging and clinical data for translational research
• Data mining or natural language processing of large electronic medical record data for deep phenotyping
• Biomedical image analysis, computational pathology, and imaging informatics
• Visualization and visual analytics of multidimensional biomedical data
• Systems biology and modeling of complex diseases and clinical trials
• Metagenomics, pharmacogenomics, metabolomics, and epigenomics data analysis and integration for translational research

In this role you will:
• Build upon and maintain a successful research and funding portfolio that involves interdisciplinary collaborations across campus
• Contribute to the development of a new educational program in quantitative biomedical science through lectures and student mentorships
