Description

The Lezon lab at the University of Pittsburgh Drug Discovery Institute (UPDDI) seeks a full-time postdoctoral associate to identify novel combination therapeutics for treating Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The incumbent will be responsible for developing methods that integrate existing information on drug structures, targets and activities with results from ongoing cell-based screens to generate therapeutic strategies for AD. The successful applicant will be expected to lead the development of new computational drug discovery strategies, and to work with a multi-disciplinary team to design experiments that test computational predictions.

UPDDI is a world-class drug discovery institute focused on applying quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) to develop cures for complex diseases. Our Alzheimer’s disease program is a collaboration between pharmacologists, neurobiologists and computational biologists that combines phenotypic screens with computational inference and modeling to better understand and treat AD. We have our own state-of-the-art experimental facilities and full access to the computational resources of the Department of Computational and Systems Biology.

Qualifications

Candidates must have strong quantitative and programming skills, knowledge of network inference, a demonstrated ability to find creative solutions to novel problems, and the ability to communicate effectively with a transdisciplinary team. Knowledge of systems biology and machine learning a strong plus.
